When I first started this blog I was only diagnosed with an unspecified Auto-inflammatory syndrome. Little did I know this would be the beginning of my journey. Since May 2020, I have been getting worse. I have now been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, auto-inflammatory syndrome, obstruction in my vena cava, unknown abdominal pain, and possibly have Gastroparesis.
I have tried five medications since January 2020 to try and control my symptoms. I recently just failed the fifth medication. On Monday I had a doctors appointment and my doctor did an ultrasound of my hands and wrists after I told her how bad I felt. My arthritis progressed from mild to severe since the last time I had an ultrasound. It’s so bad that the inflammation is causing me tendinitis in my hands.
On my last visit we discussed a new medication that could possibly help everything going on with me. But we were denied by our insurance company for “not enough evidence”a couple weeks later. On, Monday my doctor started the appeal process and guess what Wednesday we got a call saying that we had won the appeal! I guess they got all the evidenced they needed after seeing Monday’s ultrasound and blood work. ( It also helped that my doctor told them that they can’t treat me like a guinea pig trying all the medication we know that won’t work on me.) As I wait to start the new medication, I was put on a different medication because I can not be without some type of treatment. As well as getting a steroid shot and anti- inflammatory shot. It looks like I got a New Year’s miracle! Hope everyone has a happy and healthy New Year! Love you all!
